Asda has fleshed out its Vodafone-based pay-asyou- go

MVNO offer and has rolled out Asda Mobile to 98 stores nationwide. Airtime is charged at a competitive 16p per minute for the first 3 minutes each day, then 8p per minute (plus a 10% free airtime credit when the user tops-up at an ASDA Store or over the phone); texts are 10p each for the first three each day, then 5p per text.
These are certainly competitive prices, notably when compared to rival Tesco Mobile (15p per minute, 5p per text on its Value tariff). Asda also has three handsets – the Nokia 1600 at very good £19.97, Motorola W220 for £34.97, and the LG Chocolate at £97.97. There’s also a SIM-only package for £4.97.
