Big Brother May Go Orange

Following the announcement by Carphone that they would no longer be sponsoring Channel4's Big Brother in the wake of the racism row, Orange are rumoured to be stepping into the gap.

During the last series of Big Brother Carphone Warehouse suspended their sponsporship of the show following tens of thousands of complaints from viewers that contestants were racist bullys.

Last week Carphone has decided that it won't be looking to take their £3m sponsorship deal into the next series.

In a statement the company said: "We constantly review our sponsorship relationships and feel that, having suspended the sponsorship during this year's Celebrity Big Brother, now is a good time to look at the partnership again.

"We have concluded that the huge publicity around the show and our involvement within that means that now is the time for us to look for an alternative."

The Channel4 show can bring in up to 20 million votes each week, so is a prime marketing tool. Step in Orange.

Orange have conducted a poll amongst it's staff to see if sponsoring the reality show would be a possibility.

"We're looking into whether Big Brother is an appropriate programme for us to sponsor. In fact, we've asked our 12,000 employees for their opinion. We're waiting to see what comes back from them and then we'll make a decision." an Orange spokesperson said.
