Globally, the mobile industry continues to enjoy strong growth, says Portio Research. The total number of mobile subscribers worldwide at the end of 2005 was 2.13bn, an increase of 374m over the year.
This figure is expected to increase to approximately 4bn by the end of 2011; worldwide mobile phone penetration should pass the 50% mark some time around the end of 2009.
