1,000th Unit of Nortel BCM 450 Shipped

Launched only last October, troubled comms vendor Nortel say they have already shipped 1000 units of their BCM 450 UC solutions demonstrating strong global demand for a product that connects people faster, improves collaboration and speeds time to decision for firms with up to 300 employees.

"The introduction of BCM450 has enabled Nortel to increase our market presence working with our strategic partners across Europe. In a market that increasingly demands cost-effective unified communications and solutions that connect people faster, improve collaboration, and speed decision making," said Barry Bonnett, vice president, Enterprise Business Development, Europe, Nortel. "The BCM450 is a simple up-sell opportunity for our channel partners to protect their customer base."

With BCM450, Nortel expands its addressable market offering greater capacity for businesses like Reach Global. Reach Global supplies, innovative, tailor-made E-solutions to small to medium sized businesses in the UK, Ireland and Asia. For them, BCM450 represents a move towards unified communications and a way to reduce lost revenue through more efficient call management.

"We are a progressive company, focused on developing creative products for our customers, and we wanted to ensure we deployed a communications solution that was as innovative as the solutions we produce," said Sohail Sarwar, head of special projects, Reach Global Group. "With the BCM450 we have been able to improve our customer response times and we are seeing increased productivity from our employees. However, the most important thing for us is that the BCM450 will grow with us, we can increase our workforce globally but we won't have to replace our Nortel solution."

Stephanie Watson, general manager at the analyst firm MZA, commented, "The fact that already more than 1,000 BCM450 units have been shipped, means that many businesses have already realized the benefits that messaging, mobility and collaboration capabilities can bring. Small to medium size firms represent as a whole a true driving force of the EMEA economy, businesses deploying hybrid/IP solutions in the 11-250 user category accounted for almost 60 percent of total EMEA demand in the first three quarters 2008."
