20:20 Mobile to partner UMU in delivering Mobile Security Suite

20:20 MOBILE Group is set to team up with mobile security provider UMU in an exclusive strategic partnership to offer UMU Mobile security products to dealers, resellers and retailers.

The UMU Mobile Security Suite offers 3 products in one: UMU Scan, UMU SpamSafe and UMU StopThief applications designed specifically for Symbian Series 60 and Windows Mobile Smartphones.

As more and more businesses integrate Smartphones into their Networks, the UMU Mobile Security Suite offers an exceptional value for money solution to help combat network vulnerabilities and commercial risks. It offers a compelling opportunity to resellers to offer a genuine value-added service to their customers while generating an incremental revenue stream, with generous commissions for each user licence sold.

The 3 products are:

UMU Scan - an on-device anti-virus application which once installed runs silently in background providing protection by a combination of scheduled device scans, scanning all files at regular intervals and scanning any new files received, downloaded or upon the insertion of a memory card.

The application will connect to receive regular virus updates over a multitude of user defined connections and will receive pushed updates for newly recognised high risk malware threats.

The application is both processor and data-light with one of the smallest installed packages, having been specifically designed solely for mobile devices and is offered to channel partners as a pre-configured option when ordering handsets from 20:20 Mobile or an Over The Air download for retrospective deployment to corporate mobile fleets.

UMU SpamSafe - provides users with a simple option of blocking or filtering nuisance, unwanted or unsolicited SMS and MMS messages with 4 modes of operation using easy definable white and blacklists to combat the global upsurge of mobile messaging abuse.

UMU StopThief - is a simple application designed to block the use of a Smartphone if lost or stolen protecting both personal and corporate data. UMU StopThief automatically locks the device and notifies the owner if the SIM card is changed and will provide an exact location if the handset is GPS enabled; it also enables users to remotely lock the handset or delete all information stored on the device.

David Hinc, 20:20 Mobility Solutions Sales Director, said: “We’re delighted to be working with UMU on providing this product to the channel. The moment we tested it we realised that UMU was a winner. The application’s low memory footprint and capability to scan 30% faster means significantly less battery usage than many competitive products at over twice the price. Network and device security is becoming a major priority for IT managers in minimising corporate as well as personal risks.”

20:20 Mobile MD, James Browning, added: “This is an exciting new partnership bringing a range of groundbreaking new products to market. We are initially offering UMU Mobile Security Suite to 20:20 Mobile partners in the UK, with a view to later rolling out in other EU countries.”

UMU Ltd. Chief Technology Officer, Peter Harrison, said: “The growing number of Smartphones being used brings with it increased risks. Stolen handsets contain information which can be of use to the thief. Malware is on the rise and we are now experiencing some major outbreaks on mobile handsets, with large numbers of devices in the Middle East, Southern Europe and South East Asia reported to be currently infected with theHatiHati virus.

“Similarly it is expected that SMS spam will be a growing problem over the next few years. UMU's Mobile Security Suite protects handsets against all of these threats. We are excited to be working with 20:20 Mobile Group to help users protect their handsets appropriately.”
