A Double Dose of Philip's at Daisy

It was a lucky day for the name Philip as Daisy announced its salesperson and employee of the year 2009.

For the two winners, respectively, were Philip Lee and Philip Honeyman, who each received a handsome cheque for £1,500 from the Lancashire based telecoms provider.

The announcement was made in front of fellow staff members at Daisy’s January staff presentation to raucous cheers and applause.

The award marked a triple celebration for Philip Lee, known as ‘Rocket’ to colleagues, as it was his 27th birthday on the same day as well as his third anniversary with the company.

Philip, a business partner account manager, said: “It was quite a day and not one I will forget in a hurry. Last year I got on the company ski incentive by hitting my sales target and now this; unbelievable. The money will pay for my season ticket to the Turf.”

Chris Burney Head of Indirect Sales, said: “Philip’s over-the-phone sales ability saw him bring in £50,000 of recurring revenue into the business over the course of the year, which was 207% of target. That is a fantastic figure and greatly beneficial to the company.”

Philip Honeyman is the youngest member of the IT department, whose boundless enthusiasm for the role saw him win the employee of the year title. Last year his efforts saw him win a place on the company ski trip.

The 19-year-old has learnt most of his skills on the job and he is always running around the office sorting problems with machines and setting up new starters.

He goes into work at weekends, stays late when required and even cancelled Christmas leave to go in and help build new machines in preparation for the new building which opened at the beginning of January.

Philip said: ““I couldn’t believe it when my name appeared on the presentation slide, and I was even more shocked when I received the cheque.

“I took my parents, brothers and sister out that night for a meal to celebrate and the rest has paid for my summer holiday in Ibiza.”

Director of IT, Alex Mawson, said: “I get so many emails from people telling me how great and helpful he is and he always has a smile on his face. He is a very deserved winner.”

The competition is now hotting up for the 2010 winners, with staff looking to win the monthly salesperson and employee titles to be in with a chance of winning the esteemed annual prize.

Gareth Kirkwood, Daisy’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “Employees are the lifeblood of a successful company and Daisy believes it is vital to give reward where it is due.

“Our two Philips have gone above and beyond what was required of them to earn their titles and we hope that others will aspire to the same goals throughout 2010. Well done to you both.”
