Alcatel Gets International Sony IP Communication Contract

Sony has chosen Alcatel to deliver a converged IP communication solution across its Nordic sites in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, and to its Baltic site in Latvia

Serving 280 users including 50 contact centre agents, the new user-centric Alcatel IP communication solution will deliver IP telephony, local area networking (LAN), and an advanced call centre solution across five sites, linking the Sony Nordics' headquarters office in Copenhagen with its four regional sites over a single converged IP network.

The solution is based on the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise IP telephony platform equipped with Alcatel IP Touch phones, which deliver advanced calling capabilities to increase employee productivity, including 'dial-by-name', call forwarding for mobility, and advanced communications applications. Sony Nordics will also deploy the Alcatel OmniTouch Contact Center solution across the region to deliver improved service through intelligent customer call routing. In the future, Sony plans to extend its range of phones beyond the Alcatel IP Touch, adding the Alcatel 4980 soft-phones for use by employees.

"We chose Alcatel for several reasons, including the solution's flexibility, which enables us to adapt our communications services to the needs of our business, employees and customers," says Flemming Lövgreen, IT manager, Sony Nordic. "The Alcatel solution is highly reliable and improves employee productivity by delivering advanced communications services, while minimising downtime. Finally, the solution's centralised management simplifies our network administration and can be done by using one single interface to save time and money."
