Alcatel-Lucent Lead Euro Enterprise Telephony Market

Gartner has ranked Alcatel-Lucent number one in the Western European enterprise telephony market for the fifth consecutive year, with 17 percent market share in 2006 based on extension line shipments. Additionally, Alcatel-Lucent was positioned in the leaders quadrant in the Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 2007.

In the Gartner report, Market Share: Enterprise Telephony Equipment, Western Europe 2006, Gartner analysts estimate that the overall enterprise telephony market declined slightly in 2006 over the previous year, but that the penetration of IP within that market expanded significantly. Alcatel-Lucent remains first in TDM (Time Division Multiplex) as well as in cumulative TDM and IP, and ranks second in the IP sector.

"Enterprises worldwide are gradually migrating to IP as they leverage the advanced features and cost savings available in today's communication networks," said Hubert de Pesquidoux, president of Alcatel-Lucent enterprise activities. "Today's CIOs know that it's all about benefiting from the power of open standards such as IP while protecting initial investments."

The Gartner Magic Quadrant report for Corporate Telephony in EMEA places Alcatel-Lucent in the leaders quadrant. According to the report, "Market leaders demonstrate strength and can affect market trends in all the criteria on which they are evaluated. Leaders tend to have broader geographical coverage, which is important to enabling pan-EMEA and global companies to consolidate their telephony supplier."

"We are proud to be positined in the leaders quadrant in corporate telephony," stated Tom Burns, president of Alcatel-Lucent's enterprise solutions activities. "Our team is committed to developing business critical solutions that drive new business generation and allow enterprises to transform their networks into competitive differentiators. It is an honour to see their hard work recognised in this way. And of course, the success of Alcatel-Lucent is ultimately shared by our customers."
