ASM Goes on Recruitment Drive

ASM Technologies has today announced its new graduate recruitment plans. For the first time in the company’s history, ASM is actively seeking to hire graduates as it looks to invest in local talent and play its part in training the IT executives of the future.

In line with ASM’s ambitious growth plans to hit £50 million in turnover by 2017, ASM will bolster its headcount by 10% over the course of the next 12 months, primarily with graduates in business-related subjects to be trained for roles in sales, marketing and account management. Graduates are being sought for roles in ASM’s London and Winsford offices in order to support its expansion in both regions.

ASM has engaged specialist IT Sales recruiter Robertson Sumner to lead the graduate recruitment drive. Robertson Sumner will also be organising a graduate recruitment day for ASM in January 2015, where ASM expects to recruit a good proportion of its new hires.

Iain Tomkinson, sales director at ASM Technologies comments, “With the European Commission (EC) predicting a 900,000 shortfall in IT jobs by 2020, and the government launching its Digital Taskforce in July and a new computing curriculum for primary schools, the IT skills crisis is widely regarded as one of the most pressing challenges facing our industry today. But being able to code is only one side of the coin. A large proportion of the IT industry – particularly in the channel – does not rely on coders to thrive. Instead it relies on competent business people with the technical capacity to understand how the products and services that make up the IT industry can help solve customer requirements and identify opportunities. Thankfully the UK educational system is producing plenty of strong business graduates from which we can recruit and grow our business. There is no crisis here.”

Tomkinson continues, “As ASM has grown and matured as an organisation, we have been able to shift our recruitment policy from solely seeking out experienced candidates from within the IT industry to now being able to hire good quality graduates with no IT background at all. ASM now has the resources and support infrastructure in place to nurture junior staff from highly productive team players into senior management roles. We are an ambitious and fast-growing company with exciting prospects for graduates that are looking to forge a long career in IT.”

Marc Sumner, managing director of Robertson Sumner says, “ASM’s expansion plans are very exciting and we are pleased to be working with Iain and his team. I believe the investment they are putting into graduates / trainees is the right way to develop the growth they need. Breeding tomorrow’s future stars is a great way to develop talent internally while creating a competitive environment where everyone thrives.”
