Avaya Receives 2011 Frost & Sullivan Award

Avaya has received the 2011 New Product Innovation Award for Global Desktop Videoconferencing Endpoints from Frost & Sullivan for the Avaya Desktop Video Device (ADVD).

In determining the award, Frost & Sullivan benchmarked the ADVD in five categories: product innovation; use of leading-edge technologies; value-added features and benefits, customer ROI and customer penetration potential. In particular, under product innovation, the company noted:

“A key aspect of the Avaya Desktop Video Device and the Avaya Flare Experience is that it provides one unified, people-centric view for all relevant communications in an easy to use and intuitive way. As a result, placing a video call is as easy as making a phone call, a moniker that the Videoconferencing industry has been targeting for years.”

The ADVD is a WIFI enabled desktop video device that has an 11.6-inch multi-touch screen with an integrated high definition video camera. The multi-modal device supports the Avaya Flare Experience, and is an integrated solution that brings together multiple interactions into a single communications interface. This device enables users to communicate via multiple media types and provides access to desktop video, social media, audio/video/web conferencing, multiple directories, presence, instant messaging, and contextual history in an innovative and intuitive desktop device.

Avaya’s Desktop Video Device supports the entire Avaya Aura applications portfolio, and enables a user to consolidate tools such as a desk phone, speakerphone, and video endpoint in a single easy to use device for ad hoc or scheduled multimedia collaboration. Customers have no need for multiple devices, which saves money on hardware, licenses, management, and maintenance.

Roopam Jain, industry director, UC and Collaboration, Frost & Sullivan commented, “Avaya’s Desktop Video Device and the Avaya Flare Experience demonstrate Avaya’s innovation; the power of its applications; and its vision to provide a rich, multi-modal, and unified user experience geared to provide new and productive ways for users to collaborate. Based on Frost & Sullivan’s independent analysis of the Global Videoconferencing Endpoints market, Avaya is being recognized with the 2011 New Product Innovation Award.”
