Azlan Signals Cisco Intentions

Azlan, the Enterprise division of Tech Data’s European operations, has appointed David Harvey – who has more than 20 years of experience in senior positions within the European IT industry – as Cisco Director EMEA.

It is Harvey’s second spell with Azlan – he was previously Managing Director for the company’s German operations between 1995 and 1999. He has re-joined the company from Crossbeam Systems where, for the past year he was Area Director for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Prior to this he held the position of Managing Director for specialist security distributor, NOXS, in Germany.

The appointment is a sign, say Azlan of their on-going commitment to helping Cisco partners throughout Europe to develop their business, says Simon England, Vice President Enterprise and Managing Director of Azlan. “Cisco is one of our most important and valued suppliers as we continue to accelerate new opportunities for partners. We are keenly focused on helping our partners develop their business with Cisco’s market-leading solutions in Core Networking and Advanced Technology segments by leveraging our unique value creating proposition of ‘reach and focus’. David’s appointment is a vital step forward in taking this value to market and a strong indication of just how committed we are to these objectives.”

Harvey says that he was attracted to Azlan by the unrivalled prospects and opportunities that the company can now offer to the market. “The new Azlan is able to offer a unique proposition – one that combines the value-added strengths and traditions of Azlan and the tremendous back office capabilities and market reach of Tech Data in Europe. It is in my view, a combination that provides everything that resellers looking to grow their business with Cisco could possibly wish for – the expertise in Cisco and insight into the market that helps resellers to add value plus the broadline resources and capabilities that enables them to meet customer needs and keep costs under firm control.”

Over the coming months, Harvey says, Azlan will be focusing a great deal of its effort on helping more resellers that operate in the mid-market and SME arenas to develop their Cisco capabilities and sales. “As part of Tech Data, Azlan is now able to identify and reach out to many more resellers and bring them through the learning curve on Cisco much faster. At the same time, we can continue to provide the high-touch technical and sales support that is required for complex sales and the low-cost fulfilment services for those that are more straightforward. It is a truly unique proposition in the Cisco market and one that rivals cannot claim to match.”

With security and voice capabilities increasingly becoming an integral part of the networking solutions, the time is right for additional resellers to move into the Cisco space, says Harvey. “Cisco now has a range of solutions that are suited to smaller businesses as well as the enterprise organization and the reputation and value of the Cisco brand is second to none. Being a Cisco reseller marks you out as having real expertise and quality within your business and that is something that we want to help bring to more SME and mid-market resellers throughout Europe.”
