Azzurri Pulls a Flanker for RFU at the Rugby World Cup

With the Rugby World Cup 2007 in full swing, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has made plans to ensure that the England management team can access vital corporate resources and information, round the clock, on or off the field, while in France for the six week tournament.

Through a partnership with leading business managed services provider Azzurri Communications, the RFU's management team including Director of Elite Rugby, Rob Andrew and England Head Coach, Brian Ashton, are using Azzurri Roam, to connect to the world's largest WiFi, fixed broadband and dial networks.

"With Azzurri Roam, the entire management team can connect and work anywhere and anytime, via whatever medium available. Be it a dial-up at a local community rugby club or hotel WiFi in France, they can all roam seamlessly and get the same user-friendly interface regardless of which device or connection is being used. Azzurri Roam also ensures that we aren't locked into costly service contracts once these trips have finished," comments Mike Morris, network manager, RFU.

Offered on a cost per user, per month basis, the RFU can make use of thousands of access points in over 160 countries, including more than 75,000 WiFi hotspots globally, giving remote staff the freedom to simply click and connect. The flexible contract offered ensures that the RFU is only paying for the service whilst it is being used.

David Macfarlane, Azzurri Communications comments: "The concept of remote working has matured to a point where it is not only an accepted working practice, but a critical business enabler for most organisations - the RFU is no exception. Remote and mobile workers need easy-to-use, reliable access to corporate resources and the Internet, while the IT department needs a service that is cost effective, manageable and compatible with existing infrastructure."

Azzurri Roam offers companies a complete solution for all mobility requirements giving users access to the world's largest WiFi, fixed Broadband and dial networks, all through a single secure client interface. New fully hosted remote working and comprehensive 3G services have also been added to the suite making Azzurri the most ubiquitous provider of managed remote and mobile services in the UK.
