BT 21CN Portfolio Director Lined up for Convergence Summit

Comms Business Magazine has secured Daryl Dunbar, BT’s Director 21CN Portfolio Development, to address delegates to the forthcoming Convergence Summit in Manchester on 1-2 May.

Along with BT Channel Sales chief Phil Purssey, Dunbar will be bringing resellers up to date with 21CN roll out as well as new applications and opportunities for the channel.

As Director, 21CN Portfolio Development for BT Group, Daryl directs the portfolio strategy across BT’s lines of business.

He is responsible for ensuring BT has the right portfolio to meet customers’ needs and group financial targets, at the same time driving convergent services and solutions for the future. Daryl also champions the collation of innovations from across the business and outside of BT and, by utilising customer insight, in delivering them to the market as customer propositions.

He provides critical strategic analysis of commercial market and technology trends in order to assure BT’s portfolio is fit for purpose now and in the future.

His previous role was as Director 21CN Design and Development, where he was responsible for the end-to-end network, systems, service, and product designs and development for BT’s Global Network, including the 21st Century Network (BT’s Next Generation Network or 21CN).

He meets regularly with the UK regulator, Ofcom, and played a key role in the negotiations of the recent regulatory settlement with Ofcom, providing expert technical and commercial knowledge throughout the process.

He is a veteran telecommunications engineer, entrepreneur, and executive, who has designed, deployed, and maintained global private and public networks.

Prior to joining BT, he oversaw the turnaround and sale of a fibre network provider in the US and served as Vice President for a Fortune 10 corporation where he oversaw the global optical and IP network and all associated services.

He has extensive and successful background in entrepreneurial ventures including technology, strategy, corporate development, and venture funding and has served in various executive positions including COO, CTO, Chief Architect, co-founder and board member. These companies have raised hundreds of millions of dollars in venture and strategic funding, gained key clients and partnerships, and many have negotiated positive acquisitions.
