BT Ramp up Mobile Proposition

partnership, deal

BT and EE have signed an agreement to proceed, on an exclusive basis, to a contract for EE to provide mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) services to BT’s customers and employees.

The multi-year agreement, subject to final contract, further strengthens the existing relationship in telecommunications between BT and EE. Interestingly BT managed to obtain some 4G spectrum earlier this year during the LTE auction. How they will integrate this, if at all, into their partnership with EE, who already has a 4G network, is unclear at this stage.

BT, which has around 88,000 employees worldwide, decided to seek a new mobile partnership earlier this year.

BT currently provides a range of mobile services, primarily to large corporates, the public sector and small and medium-sized enterprises. For consumers, it has a strong wi-fi presence that it plans to build on.

BT will carefully manage the change from the current MVNO to EE to ensure a seamless transition for customers.
