BT Wholesale announces Ethernet price reductions & service enhancements

BT Wholesale has confirmed a 25 percent reduction to its Wholesale Ethernet Etherway connection charges. From Monday 31 January 2011, the standard connection charge for Etherways will be reduced and this special offer will run to 31 July 2011.

BT says this is just one of a series of recent price reductions and service enhancements BT Wholesale has made to its Wholesale Ethernet product increasing the cost efficiency, flexibility and versatility of this next generation product.

The other changes which come into effect on Tuesday 1 February 2011 are:

A 50% rental reduction on Standard Etherflow (contended 5:1)

The target time for a Wholesale Ethernet in the First mile (EFM) fault fix will be significantly reduced from 24 to 7 hours –supported by a service level agreement change. Very low bandwidth options will be available on Etherflow helping customers to move, for example, monitoring services to Wholesale Ethernet.

BT says Wholesale Ethernet is available from 963 live Ethernet fibre nodes with EFM available from 720 nodes. Rollout continues and we expect to reach 1,000 fibre nodes in the coming weeks.

Other recent BT product enhancements include:

The introduction of a 10Gig access speed option

A fourth resilience option called ‘Diverse’ has been introduced for wholesale customers within reach of a single Ethernet node. Like Diverse Plus, it delivers dual fibre access onto dual NTEs at the customer end but takes both fibre routes diversely back to a single Ethernet node.

Already BT say Wholesale customers benefit from a self-service, online portal. Simple, online click functionality offers instant, least cost quoting with configuration maps and diagrams automatically provided. The portal has recently been enhanced enabling customers to log and track fault reports.
