Businesses can float without fears on Secure Cloud

A Midlands-based company have launched a secure package for cloud computing.

Midland Networks’ new Secure Cloud service is aimed at helping businesses move towards cloud computing without the security risks.

Businesses will also benefit from the ability of staff to work from home or other locations and to scale up or down according to their requirements. Secure data storage is also included.

David Donnelly, director of Midland Networks, said: “Wherever you are in the world, you can create a secure connection by inserting your Cloud Key and entering your user name and password. This means that only you or your staff can connect with your server or data using the secure hardware keys.

“Once the key is removed from the computer, all data traces disappear so it is even safe to use on public computers, including those in internet cafés, and offers secure access from anywhere on any computer.

“Cloud computing has become increasingly popular due to its scalability, cost effectiveness and ease of access. However, some companies are understandably worried about security risks, potential attacks from hackers and the possibility of facing huge fines if they break the Data Protection Act.

“If your data centre is based in the UK, like ours in Worcestershire, or the European Union, it isn’t normally a problem.

“However, most cloud service providers store data all over the world. It can be stored in the Far East, the USA or other countries where lack of security and legislation puts companies in immediate breach of the Data Protection Act.”

Midlands Networks Secure Cloud is aimed at small to medium sized enterprises employing between five and 500 staff and services start from £20 per month.

“Once companies take Secure Cloud services, firewalls, anti-virus, spam filtering and data backup are all handled from our secure data centre,” Mr Donnelly added.

Based in Halesowen, West Midlands, Midland Networks were founded in 2005 and also specialise in hosted telephony, IT support and mobile phones. They are currently recruiting resellers.
