Channel Manager Raises over £2000 for Charity

Tough terrain and tricky weather conditions didn’t hinder ipcortex Channel Manager Lauren Brocklebank this month when she completed a sponsored 130 mile bike ride along the canal towpaths from Leicester to London.

Following the route of the Grand Union canal along with 18 other riders, she battled across uneven, narrow pathways and traversed muddy, eroding banks to complete the ride – raising money in support of Hope for Justice, a charity that works to put an end to human trafficking in the UK.

Completing the route within 3 days, she smashed her personal fundraising target of £1000 by raising £2336 – and with the group as a whole raising over £20000 for the charity.

Commenting on the challenge, Lauren said, “I’m thrilled that we completed the route - it certainly wasn’t your ordinary bike ride! The towpath between Leicester and Milton Keynes were particularly difficult – there were parts where fallen trees had blocked the route, and others where the pathway was only 2 foot wide and falling in the canal was a constant fear. It was a really tough challenge, considering I barely managed 6 miles on my first training ride just three months previous – but utterly worth it to know that we’ve made a real difference for a cause that’s hugely underrepresented in the UK.”
