Channel Telecom responds to BT channel changes

Channel Telecom is increasing its activities to recruit additional resellers for BT, initiated last month in the wake 3P losing their BT status.

The latest announcement from BT states that its Associate channel programme is to be closed in less than four weeks.

Channel Telecom said that BT had stated, “BT Indirect Partner Sales has recently reviewed its channel strategy with particular focus on our routes to market. As a result of this review we are choosing to close the BT Associate Programme on 11 March 2011.”

Channel Telecom is keen to talk to existing BT Associates who want to become resellers for BT, and who therefore need to sign with an Authorised partner of BT if they want to retain the option to earn good commission for selling BT’s portfolio.

Tim Nelson, Head of Marketing at Channel Telecom, said: “Having set up the Associates programme whilst I worked for BT I have mixed feelings about this latest news. On the one hand it’s a shame it hasn’t succeeded to the extent originally hoped. But since I now work in the channel I’m happy to be in the position to benefit from the programme being closed. And of course if there are any other companies out there who’d like to explore the benefits of becoming a reseller for BT, we’d be delighted to speak to them too.”
