Cisco adds Siemon to its Marketplace

Global infrastructure specialist Siemon has announced its launch within Cisco’s Developer Network ‘Marketplace’ as a Cisco Technology Development Partner. This single online destination spans all Cisco’s technologies and pulls together all compatible and complementary products and systems to support buyers to achieve more with their Cisco products.

Now part of the Cisco ecosystem and new to Marketplace, will be Siemon’s suite of data centre products and systems including its VersaPOD® and V600 data centre cabinets, plus its ConvergeIT™ smart building cabling system and a wide range of high-speed cabling solutions such as category 7A TERA, category 6A Z-MAX™ twisted-pair copper and XGLO® optical fibre.

According to Siemon, its VersaPOD data centre cabinet offers superior density and maximum energy efficiency. It enables an efficient approach to physical data centre infrastructure, with its zero-U mounting options and an array of configurations to support Cisco mounting, clearance and cable routing requirements to ensure proper structural support, airflow and cable management.

ConvergeIT is a converged, IP-based intelligent building cabling system that facilitates intercommunication and a central point of control for building automation systems, security and any IP application. It utilises a single structured cabling infrastructure that carries voice and data, video surveillance, access control, audio and video, fire alarms, energy management and HVAC requirements. Siemon works closely with complementary manufacturers, architects, design-build firms, building owners and contractors to plan and deploy more efficient infrastructure designs for support of smarter, greener buildings.

According to Cisco, Marketplace addresses the business needs for all end-to-end enterprise demands. It uses best practice for its online storefront site, with advanced search capabilities to enable buyers to quickly navigate and view only those products and solutions that meet their criteria. From the site, users can then directly contact Cisco or its partners, such as Siemon, to learn more or to progress an enquiry.

“Cisco Marketplace is way beyond a typical catalogue,” explains Daniel Vout, marketing manager for Siemon EMEA. “It delivers a wide range of resources to help inform and educate. As an example, the Siemon Marketplace holds a library of technical papers and guides, plus hosts videos such as one from our recent ‘ConvergeIT conference: Driving Green and Intelligent Buildings’ which calls on the voices of key spokespeople within the industry.”

Aside from Marketplace, Siemon has also collaborated with Cisco, Intel and Aquantia, to create an educational video filmed from a panel discussion about 10GBASE-T advancements. In this film, experts in the industry debate the adoption of 10 Gigabit Ethernet in the data centre and how new technology is making 10GBASE-T more economical. Topics include key 10GBASE-T market drivers and projections, the evolution of server connectivity, decreasing power needs and cabling design options with 10GBASE-T, offering actionable advice for networking professionals on critical 10GbE decision points across the data centre infrastructure.
