Comms-care Continues Apprentice Scheme Support

IT
Comms-care has announced its intention to recruit a cohort of up to six apprentices during 2016. Comms-care will train the apprentices to become support engineers initially and then build on their skills and competencies so they can take on more complex fault calls and installations.

Comms-care has recruited engineering apprentices for the past four years. It believes that recruiting up to six trainees per cohort provides the best results as it encourages loyalty and enables the apprentices to train and learn as a cohesive and supportive group.

The apprentices start their employment at Comms-care with an intensive induction and shadowing programme that covers all the skills that they need to complete the common IT engineering tasks for their role. It also covers the back end systems and soft skills they need to allow them to work within the department.

With the on the job exposure to technologies and IT engineering, along with vendor training, Comms-care aims to prepare apprentices for work within two years and ensure they all qualify for a diverse set of industry recognised certifications.

Darren Briscoe, Technical Director at Comms-care, said: “The issue of skills shortages in the technical and engineering sectors is well-understood and as a leading employer in the IT industry we want to help address it. By providing apprentices with the skills, experience and certifications they need to contribute to the future of the industry, our apprenticeships offer the opportunity to feed new talent into the IT engineering pool.”
