Cubix Rescues Stranded Hotels with MP-7

Without much publicity or fanfare, BT has started removing the Meter Pulse facility from hotels and other hospitality customers using analogue lines. This is part of the upgrade process to 21CN.

This means hoteliers using this facility will no longer be able to cost calls correctly or at all.

But fortunately not all is lost. Cubix has developed the MP-7, a Meter Pulse replicator that restores the missing BT Meter Pulse information in the Call Data Records (CDR) from the PBX. The CDR’s can then be sent in the old way and call billing is up and running again. MP-7 is available from most dealers.

In their Customer briefing WLR080/07 released on the 23 rd August 2007 BT recommend Called Party Answer (CPA) as the alternative product, but unfortunately fail to mention that CPA only provides one Pulse to signal the call was answered.

Subsequent Meter Pulses indicating the cost of the call are not given.
