Datasharp UK recognised as leading employer

Datasharp, which has its head office in Truro, Cornwall, has been shortlisted in the top three, for the Employer of the Year Award in the 2011 Cornwall Business Awards, marking its dedication to staff development, satisfaction and motivation.

Judged by a panel of international business experts drawn from across the world including such luminaries as Ernesto Sirolli, CEO of California’s Sirolli Institute, John Smith, chief executive of BBC Worldwide and Dame Lynne Brindley, chief executive of the British Library, entries underwent close scrutiny.

The judges were particularly interested in companies that showed creativity, innovation and dynamism to make them thrive while using Cornwall as a base for achieving strong growth at a national level and benefiting a county that has historically struggled to provide a viable home for big businesses.

The recognition is of particular significance to Datasharp’s 70 staff at head office who, since June 2010, have seen changes in top-level structure and the recruitment of new board members including the appointment of Jane Cockcroft MD, who has worked for the company since 1994, and daughter of the company’s founder Paul McIntosh.

The new board has placed an emphasis on making positive internal changes that incentivise and motivate the staff. One such development has been the implementation of integrated communications allowing flexibility in home working and hours which has proven highly beneficial both to the company and staff, increasing productivity by 20 per cent.

"We are thrilled to be shortlisted for employer of the year. Datasharp is run by people passionate about the business, passionate about serving our customers and, importantly, passionate about the people who work here,” said Jane Cockcroft, Datasharp’s MD.

"This is great recognition of our dedication to creating a happy and fulfilling work environment for our loyal staff. Datasharp is proud to be a lively and proactive company with a brilliant team of people and a bright future," she continued.

Allan Williams, technical director, added: "The passion, drive and success is back in the company following the return of Paul McIntosh and Jane Cockcroft. The company us moving forward at a rapid pace now and excitement in the office is infectious."
