Desktop mobile phone increases call rate by 150%

Burnside Telecom has announced that a London based call centre has increased its call rate from 60 calls per hour to 150 calls per hour over the mobile network using Burnside's P350 Desktop Mobile Phone.

The P350 telephone application programming interface [TAPI] has enabled the call centre to use its Microsoft call management software to automate outbound dialling.

The P350 offers a unique combination of features for office use including TAPI, Plantronics and Jabra headset support, explicit call transfer [ECT] and SMS Gateway operation integrated with Microsoft Outlook. Connection can also be made to external call recording devices for archival purposes.

David Robson, director of Burnside Telecom, commented: "Our new Office Mobile Phone provides the ideal terminal for the wireless office or call centre using either public mobile networks or picocell based private mobile networks. Every office desk should have one."

The Burnside P350 combines the ease of use of an ordinary desktop office phone with the 'use it anywhere' flexibility of a mobile phone. The insertion of a mobile phone SIM is all that is required for instant connection to public or private GSM wireless networks.

Unlike a handheld mobile phone, the desktop form factor provides a fixed, permanent and accessible phone that anyone in the office can use. Mains power keeps the internal standby battery topped up so the phone is always on and working. Any possible risk to the user's health from radiation from the aerial is also considerably reduced.

The P350 is now available from UK mobile network operators, distributors and selected dealers.
