Digitalk Selected by Interoute to Power Prepaid Enterprise Voice Services

Interoute, operator of one of Europe’s largest and most advanced networks, is to use the Digitalk Application Server to support prepaid converged VoIP service for enterprise customers.

Interoute has deployed the Digitalk Application Server with its existing softswitch infrastructure, taking advantage of Digitalk’s wide range of SIP support to quickly and efficiently integrate the server into its existing network.

“We chose Digitalk because it is the pre-eminent prepaid platform in Europe and has enabled Interoute to offer customers a self sign-up solution,” said Matt Finney, CTO, Interoute. “Using Digitalk we are able to connect (or “federate”) customers to the Interoute One platform in under 10 minutes, quickly enabling direct communication with other companies and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), without the need for additional hardware, difficult integration or expensive upgrades.”

Interoute is using the Digitalk Application Server to support Interoute One, which enables companies using Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 to form the world’s biggest business community, sharing secure Instant Messaging (IM), presence and video calls across corporate networks.

Interoute also plans to integrate the Digitalk Application Server into its VVN (Virtual Voice Network) managed softswitch partitioning and interconnection service, which offers wholesale voice capacity to other carriers, and VVN Arena, which provides a brokering service for wholesale voice minutes. VVN Arena gives other carriers access to an Interoute supplied GUI management interface (HUB GUI) that allows individual service providers to manage their relationships with a range of other carrier partners.

“Interoute’s unified communications solution, Interoute One, is typical of the innovation that its pan European next generation network can support. The fact that the Digitalk Media Application Server can be used to support innovative services such as Interoute One and Interoute’s VVN application, Arena, shows that a single Digitalk platform can fit a range of diverse applications simultaneously to offer service providers a significantly improved return on their investment,” said Mark Ashdown, Sales and Marketing Director, Digitalk.

By using a prepaid model, Interoute is able to offer customers an instant online sign-up, a trial of the service and pre-payment as a way of managing their costs. Post payment is still available for those customers who require it.
