Directors Opt for an Eco-Friendly Drive

The team at Cramlington based mobile airtime and handset distributor Fone Logistics have swapped their traditional fuel guzzling company cars for the latest eco friendly set of wheels in a bid to demonstrate just how seriously the company takes its green credentials.

The company that is aiming to reduce its carbon footprint by 15 percent is about to take delivery of a fleet of BMW 1 series, whose efficient dynamics considerably reduce emissions.

The firm is increasing its commitment to the Government’s green agenda by also recycling old mobile phone handsets in compliance with the WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) standards and is planning to recycle all office paperwork in a bid to become a paperless office.

Fone Logistics, sales and marketing director Julien Parven said: “Our intention as we grow the Fone Logistics brand and market share is to develop an environmental policy to be one of the most ethical mobile phone distributors. We have therefore stepped up a gear in terms of being more aware of our carbon footprint and are very conscious to ensure we set high ‘green’ standards across the entire workforce.

“We decided that the field sales team would swap their previous cars and now drive the more environmentally friendly BMW 1 series, which won the World Green Car of the Year 2008 award.

“We are also aware of the environmental impact from mobile phone handsets, as with all electronic equipment, mobile phones contain a range of substances that are harmful if the devices are not disposed of properly. That is why we also have our mobile phone recycling scheme so dealers and the public can come to us to dispose of their handsets safely.”
