The promotion, which runs until the end of the calendar year and is available for Lake, Avaya BCM or Mitel systems, is designed to give customers who are using aging or discontinued IP-based communications switches to swap them out for current BT solutions that provide improved performance and functionality and reduced management overheads and costs. It also give the customers the peace of mind that BT will dispose of or recycle all phone equipment in a responsible manner and in accordance with the EC Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) directive.
DMSL sees the scheme as a good opportunity for resellers to highlight the benefits of IP telephony and unified communications to customers and is actively promoting it to BT reseller partners. “There will be plenty of customers out there who have older IP-based switches that are either near the end of their life or for which support is being withdrawn. At the same time, they will be thinking about how they can adopt a unified comms infrastructure. The BT Scrappage Scheme gives them the opportunity to make that transition, implement and excellent IP-based telephony and UC solution, and save money at the same time. It also gives resellers a great excuse to go and start talking to their customers about the very latest technologies.”
Under the BT Switch Scrappage Scheme, resellers can offer up to 20 percent discounts on any sale with a standard list-price value of over £5000. Sales of a lower value attract reduced levels of discount on a sliding scale with 10 percent offered on deals of over £2000 and 15 percent for spending of £3000 or more. The offer is not eligible for non switch products or services, such as calls and lines, broadband or mobile contracts, or on Cisco or Avaya CM switches, switch maintenance or voice and/or structured cabling.
