DMSL says that resellers need to be prepared to take advantage of the huge anticipated growth in take-up of multi-play telecoms services over the next few years if they are not to get left behind.

According to market analysts CCS Insights, by the end of 2019, 79 per cent of UK households will have signed up to a multiplay service bundle of telecom services that combine telephone, broadband, pay-TV and mobile services from the same provider.

By the end of 2016, CCS Insight predicts that more than 16 million UK households will have a bundle of three or more services, an increase of 43% from 2014. By the end of 2019, 4.6 million households will have signed up to a package of four services, up from just over one million at the end of 2014.

The firm says that 2016 will be a pivotal year for the UK's telecom market. It will also be crucial for resellers, says John Carter, Managing Director of DMSL. “Multiplay is the future and for broadband sales and the sooner resellers and retailer understand that the better. The market is consolidating and it is vital to choose the right partner and take solutions to market that will resonate with the customer.

BT’s recent announcement of new best value 4G mobile offerings is significant says Carter, as it is makes the company a really strong player in the multiplay market. “BT is the most trusted name in the market and with its strong voice heritage, vast and well-established broadband base and fast-growing presence in TV with BT Sport, it is already a major player in multiplay. The addition of mobile will make BT an even more potent force, attracting new customers and enabling more cross-selling of bundled services.”

CCS noted that consumers find it more convenient and better value to buy broadband, mobile, TV and land-line access from one company, putting established providers that can offer all these services are in a strong position.

Carter added: “Resellers and retailers need to be ready to take advantage of this trend. We can help them to get ready for the boom in multiplay. BT already has a very attractive proposition and there is much more to come. This is the perfect time for resellers to get on board.”
