dotMobi and Google to help UK companies get on mobile Web

Mobile web pioneer dotMobi today announced that it is a confirmed vendor for Google’s GetMo programme. GetMo aims to help UK businesses establish a presence on the mobile Web, and dotMobi’s goMobi mobile website builder has allowed businesses to create sophisticated mobile websites with an easy-to-use cloud service since 2010.

Google is placing an emphasis on the importance of having a mobile site so that companies can capitalize on the growth in mobile traffic. Google reported a 166% increase in mobile searches for top retail brands last Christmas in the UK. However, some 79% of large UK online advertisers had no mobile site to serve that traffic. Without a mobile site, mobile users will simply go elsewhere. Google’s Jason Spero reported that, with approximately 15% of all Web traffic now mobile, not having a mobile site is like closing a website one day a week.

Eileen O’Sullivan COO of dotMobi, said, “We’re delighted to join Google’s GetMo initiative to further promote adoption of the mobile Web. We’ve been in mobile Web since its beginning, so we understand websites need to deliver a local, personal and mobile-specific experience to customers. Mobile is not desktop made smaller. It’s a different medium and needs a different approach. We believe goMobi offers the best option to customers.”

Currently, goMobi is available to businesses at a 40% discount through UK-based Easyspace, with a “try it for free” option. goMobi offers a full range of mobile-specific features for businesses to get on the mobile Web immediately, including click-to-call, m-commerce support, maps and directions, social networking and custom analytics. goMobi sites can be created in a matter of minutes and are fully compatible on all devices, including desktop computers, tablets like the iPad and all smartphones.
