Eclipse Finds Its Star Apprentice

Networks & Network Services
GATESHEAD-based telecommunications provider Eclipse Networks is the first employer in the North East to benefit from a graduate from Newcastle University’s Graduate Apprentices Scheme.

Robin Quinn, 21, has joined the company through the Graduate Apprentices Scheme as a graduate business development executive. The scheme was launched by the University’s Careers Service and aims to retain graduate talent in the region and support local employers.

Robin, originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, will be responsible for developing Eclipse Networks by enhancing its direct sales arm and by developing its dealer channel. His new role will see him developing relationships with current clients as well as seeking new customers through implementing his own sales campaigns.

Eclipse Networks sales director James Drake said: “Robin is an excellent addition to our team. He has brought enthusiasm and fresh thinking to our business, and is already taking on projects that are adding real commercial value to us.

“At Eclipse we are fiercely proud of our North East roots, and having the opportunity to help retain the best graduate talent in the area is fantastic. Newcastle University have managed the entire recruitment and selection process for us, saving valuable time that would otherwise have been spent on screening unsuitable candidates.

“By providing a placement subsidy, above all Graduate Apprentices has saved us money.”

Robin said: “I am really excited about my new role and very appreciative to have found a job in the midst of the recession.

“Eclipse Networks is a business in a fast moving and competitive market and I am looking forward to taking on the challenge of developing the business through increased direct and channel sales, liaising with current clients by giving them unrivalled incentives and deals and above all giving our customers the best possible service.”
