Eurosport 3D TV on your mobile

bluegfx, a specialist provider of 3D and video technologies, has enabled British Eurosport’s 60 second ‘Home Sweet Home’ promo, shot partly in 3D to be viewed in real time on TV, PC and mobile platforms.

The ability to watch 3D video on PC, iPad and iPhone, without buffering or interrupted viewing is made possible through Microsoft smooth stream technology for transcoding to mobile platforms, and by harnessing the power of 3D Cloud GPU processing, provided by specialist hosting provider PEER 1 Hosting, which enables high performance real-time rendering.

The 60 second film is designed to showcase the sport channel’s live coverage of MotoGP, World Superbikes and British Superbikes and will be the most broadcast British Eurosport promo in 2011. It features home furnishings and appliances created in 3D, such as the kettle and table, which are made from motorbike parts.

The 3D animated film was produced for British Eurosport by Duncan Rudd at 3DR Studio in association with bluegfx, utilising Cloud 3D GPU rendered mental images iray for British Eurosport’s ‘Home Sweet Home of Motorbikes’ campaign.

In partnership with PEER 1 Hosting’s 3D GPU Cloud built on Nvidia Tesla GPU technology and available on a pay as you go basis, bluegfx has enabled smooth stream technology on multiple platforms, ensuring maximum accessibility and visibility to consumers. Using the high performance engine of PEER 1’s GPU Cloud the 3D video elements can be rendered smoothly without buffering issues.

Matt Allen, managing director at bluegfx, commented: “Our focus was on pushing the boundaries in 3D rendering and, with invaluable hosting support from PEER 1, we feel we have done that. We are now looking forward to seeing the campaign make a real impact.”
