FCS Appoint Board Member for Resellers

Networks & Network Services
The Federation of Communication Services- FCS- has announced that Itret Latif, Telecoms Business Manager of Scottish and Southern Energy, has been appointed to the FCS board as a representative of the telecoms reseller community that is growing from strength to strength.

On his appointment Itret Latif said, “I am pleased to have been appointed to the FCS board to provide a voice for the increasingly important reseller sector in the UK telecoms market.

“As convergence gathers pace we look to our regulator and interested parties in government to develop the regulatory framework so that the provision of services to end customers in the mass market can take place over different infrastructure platforms. To allow this and to ensure that resellers can develop innovative service offerings on the same footing as the retail arms of infrastructure providers, I feel strongly that there should be regulation for inter-operability and wholesale access to communications access infrastructures that cover the mass market of end users - including mobile networks”

In welcoming Itret Latif to the FCS board, chairman Adrian Grilli said, “We are pleased to have the advantage of Itret’s knowledge as a major telecoms reseller and expertise in the regulation of markets outside of telecoms to guide FCS strategy. Itret is a well known and thoughtful participant in the fixed telephony arena and takes over the role as co-chair of the FCS Industry Forum this month. With Itret’s appointment the FCS board now reflects the balance of the diverse interests within the membership of the Federation.”

Itret Latif is Telecoms Business Manager of Scottish and Southern Energy plc (SSE), where he has worked since 1991. He has been instrumental in developing SSE’s retail communications business in the domestic sector over the last few years and therefore has experience of the challenges faced by new players in this market. Previous roles within SSE include the development of SSE’s Gas Supply business and, as an Executive member and Chairman of the Gas Forum, the development of industry governance arrangements for the gas supply industry.
