Field of Dreams

As treats go, for some men it’s the stuff that dreams are made of . . . the chance to run out on the pitch at St James’ Park.

North East-based BNS Telecom asked its staff what they would like as a bonus for great work and the team put the chance to play on the legendary pitch as top of the wish list.

So - following in the footsteps of the greats such as Jackie Milburn, Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer - two teams from the North East-based telecoms company battled it for the glory in an exhausting full 90 minute match. The company has its own squad and regularly play together.

In the past sales executives have been rewarded with the keys to a new car but even the lure of that couldn’t knock a match at St James’ off top spot.

Steve Sanderson, sales director, said: “It was a great experienced for the lads – some of them live and breath Newcastle United - it is something they can cross off their ‘things to do before I die’ list.

“Friends and family watched from the Milburn Stand and their cheers helped to create a mini-roar!

“We are a growing and forward thinking company and we like to reward good work. This day out made a change from the usually designer consumables and bottles of champagne.”
