Former Polycom MD appointed by Amillan

Solihull-based communications solutions provider Amillan has appointed Richard Reid as strategic development director.

Reid has vast experience in both telecommunications and technology industries, and formerly held the position of managing director EMEA of Polycom. Recruited in Polycom’s start-up phase, Reid successfully grew the EMEA presence from zero to over £100m per annum in his nine years in the role.

Prior to Polycom, Reid spent 10 years at Infotron, a manufacturer of voice and data networking systems, as regional director for Europe and Latin America. He was co-founder and chief executive of Face2Face Meetings, establishing the UK’s largest network of public-access videoconferencing suites before joining WatchGuard as managing director EMEA to revive their European Internet Security business.

Reid’s association with Amillan began two years ago in a mentoring role, helping to develop and shape the business in order to bring the very best solutions to Amillan’s broad client base. He now joins founders Phil Jordan and Patrick Daly on the board of Amillan.

Amillan provides IP telephony, contact centres, data and cabling services and boasts clients such as the NEC, Wimbledon, Solihull and Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trusts, and Dixons Group which includes Currys and PC World. It has recently secured the ICT infrastructure contract for the new Bournville College.

As strategic development director, Richard will assist Phil Jordan in a dual-MD position, focusing on developing more strategic relationships with clients, whilst exploring and developing partnerships with manufacturers and partners to ensure that Amillan remains at the forefront of technology solutions to help its customers achieve their own strategic objectives.
