Hotel booking app launched

A new mobile phone application that allows people to find and book hotel accommodation through their mobile phone is to be marketed to hotel groups across Europe.

Mobile marketing company, Greenfield Media, has secured an agreement to market the product, known as HotelMate. The product has been developed by Spain-based Media Delivery Technologies (MDTEC), a provider of mobile applications for the travel and tourism industries.

The recent launch of HotelMate in the US has seen good interest from some of the biggest hotel chains in the world, and it is expected that the UK could see similar levels of interest, claimed Wyn Innes, managing director at Greenfield Media: “The HotelMate concept is simple, to give anyone the ability to find and book hotel accommodation through their mobile phone simply and securely. The mobile is an essential tool for any traveller and its ubiquity and portability make it ideal for the hospitality industry.

“Once the application is downloaded to an individual’s handset it can be accessed on the go, and uses proprietary technology to provide an unprecedented ability to confirm and complete secure hotel reservations,” added Innes.

A UK licensing agreement with MDTEC enables Greenfield, as a mobile activation agency based in Cardiff, to offer the new application to its clients and partners who are interested in exploiting opportunities in the mobile commerce arena.
