HP Technology goes solar powered

Telephone, IT and hosting provider HP Technology is now receiving 25% of its electricity from 319 solar panels which have been installed onto the roof of its headquarters at the Invicta Business Centre (IBC) on Orbital Park. The panels are part of a £105,000 investment by IBC landlords the Ashford Cattle Market Company.

HP Technology Managing Director Robert Woods said: “In our business we are at the forefront of new communications technology, but we also try to keep one step ahead of competitors when it comes to non sector technologies as well. The new solar panels deliver multiple benefits; they save money, save precious fossil fuels and enable us to provide environmentally responsible web hosting services.”

The virtualisation services provided by HP Technology have always enabled customers to save energy as it allows several ‘virtual’ computers to run on one server. The ability to now power its servers using renewable energy provides clients with the double benefit of using less energy and knowing that a significant proportion of the energy they are using comes from a sustainable source.
