Mitchinson joins Huawei as one of the most renowned and successful individuals in the UK mobile market, with a number of senior roles at the very top of the UK industry during the past 22 years.
Most notably, his 11 year stewardship of Samsung Mobile in the UK and Ireland saw the Korean manufacturer establish itself at the head of the UK market as a consumer mobile brand.
His appointment is a signal of Huawei’s ambitions in the UK, where it will focus significant resource and energy on its devices business through 2011 and beyond.

Mitchinson joins from Best Buy Europe, where he was group managing director for Carphone Warehouse’s Business, Wholesale and Distribution channels.
Previously, he was with Samsung for 11 years, variously as general manager, director and vice president of its UK and Ireland mobile business. He has also held senior positions in the UK with handset maker Nokia and handset distributor Brightpoint.
Mitchinson has strong experience of brand building, sales and marketing, and the complicated dynamics at play in the market; all facets Huawei will look to draw upon as it seeks to establish itself as a major consumer brand in the UK and beyond.
He now takes charge of all Huawei’s sales and marketing activity in the UK and Ireland around handsets, tablets and mobile broadband devices. He reports to UK CEO, Zhang.
