IDL Appoints New MD to Spearhead Aggressive Growth Plans

Reading based Interactive Distribution Ltd. (IDL), an applications developer partner for contact centre automation and enterprise IP telephony vendor Interactive Intelligence in the UK, has appointed Peter Deacon as Managing Director to oversee the next phase of the company’s growth and development.

Deacon will be responsible for building on the success of the business to date, through its existing and prospective channel partners, and will be leveraging his significant knowledge of call centre applications and operations to develop IDL’s portfolio of products and services.

“With the increasing proliferation of IP communications, particularly within the call centre environment where the convergence of voice and data is proving highly beneficial, now is an extremely exciting time to be joining IDL,” said Deacon. “Organisations need to gain maximum functionality from their IP investments, and feature-rich applications allow customer-facing staff to provide a better, more efficient service, strengthening the customer relationship and improving working practices.”

Deacon brings with him over 35 years experience in the communications industry. Having progressed quickly to a managerial position within Unisys, Peter displayed his commercial nous by setting up his own company integrating LANs into Unisys mainframes, which he subsequently sold to Honeywell Bull. In 1999 he joined Telindus as Managing Director UK & Ireland, becoming corporate VP in 2002, where he was instrumental in building the UK business from £20 million to £60 million, and boosting group revenues from €300 million to €750 million. At Telindus Deacon was responsible for the successful development of the worldwide Management and Service Centres and also the development and delivery of the Digital Video Surveillance applications and solutions.

Deacon continues, “Over the next 12 months we will be consolidating our customer base to get closer to our key partners and their business objectives, galvanising IDL’s importance as a strategic channel partner. We will hone our skills to complement the requirements of our partners and continue to develop value-add applications that meet the business needs of end-user organisations which, coupled with our expert services, will help our partners close more deals.”

Formerly part of the Mettoni group of companies, IDL is now an independently financed, standalone organisation, enabling it to develop a strategy that is tailored to that of its partners, aligning the development of applications and pre and post sales services to add most value to their customers.
