Intec Telecom Bags Alcatel Exec as New CEO

Intec Telecom Systems PLC, a supplier of billing and operations support systems to the telecoms industry, has announced the appointment of Andrew Taylor to its Board as Chief Executive Officer. Taylor will join Intec on 3 January 2008 when John Hughes, current Chairman and Interim CEO, will return to his previous position as Non-Executive Chairman.

Andrew Taylor, age 38, is currently Chief Operating Officer of the UK and Ireland region and a Corporate Executive at Alcatel - Lucent (ALU). He was appointed to this role after the merger of Alcatel - Lucent in November 2006: since that time he has been responsible for Alcatel – Lucent’s activities and operations across the region, including delivering annual revenues in excess of $1billion, providing leadership and having full responsibility for direct and indirect sales, operations, quality and business improvement as well as executive responsibility for the company’s major UK and Ireland service provider customers.

John Hughes, Chairman and interim CEO, of Intec, said: “A thorough search has been undertaken for an appropriate candidate to fulfil the CEO role. Andrew has extensive knowledge of the telecoms market and proven experience and know-how. His strong track record of delivering top-line growth and organisation improvement will be instrumental in helping to drive the future success at Intec. I am delighted to welcome him to the Board.”

Prior to the merger of Lucent and Alcatel, Andrew Taylor was Lucent Technologies’ Managing Director for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics region.

He joined Lucent in 2004 with responsibility to deliver significant improvements in revenue, margin and operational business and customer performance. Over a two and a half year period he achieved a dramatic turnaround, almost tripling Lucent’s revenues in the region and winning significant new customer contracts, including a major breakthrough with BT’s 21st Century Network. In addition, he delivered consistent margin improvements and radically improved Lucent’s market share and overall

market presence from both a product and services perspective.
