Interactive Telecoms enrols its first four graduates

Birmingham telecommunications firm, Interactive Telecoms, has this week welcomed and enrolled four of its first graduate interns, as part of its partnership with internship provider Graduate Advantage.

The voice and broadband specialists plan to invest £100K in offering full time positions to graduates in the region, as part of its Graduate Recruitment drive.

Interactive Telecoms joined in a partnership with internship provider Graduate Advantage in a bid to support its regional programme and create 10 new Graduate Sales positions over the next six months.

It plans to enrol a wide range of business, communication and marketing graduates under the Graduate Advantage internship scheme, in its drive to secure and train the future talent of the telecommunications sector.

Neil Jelley, sales manager at Interactive Telecoms, said: “The telecommunications sector in the West Midlands seems to be lacking the younger generation, and talent currently.

“By implementing our own graduate programme, we want to train the cream of the crop and invest our time and revenue in building a long-term team of graduates working at Interactive Telecoms.

“This is not a short term fix for us to gain extra bodies in our office, we want to nurture and help our graduate placements further develop. It is very much a long-term commitment for us as an expanding and innovative business in Birmingham.

“We are very excited to welcome our first four graduates and finally put our programme into practice in the region.”

Interactive Telecoms has spent the last six months launching its own Graduate Recruitment Training Programme after global telecommunications giant BT announced its decision to reduce its graduate intake from 200 to 130 this year.

It covers sales, marketing and business development training in relation to modern 21st century telecommunications.

Julie Stonnall, business development manager for Graduate Advantage is backing the firms training programme.

She said: “Interactive Telecoms has spent a lot of time investing in this programme and they are fully committed and passionate about the possibility of creating long-term positions for our graduate interns.

“Our graduate interns spend a lot of time giving their skills to companies in a bid to gain the vital experience they need in their chosen sectors. It is always so satisfying to see graduates gain experience that can lead to long-term opportunities.”

Interactive Telecoms has been a key business in the regeneration of the Jewellery Quarter since 2007 and was named Select Partner of the Year by global telecoms giant Cisco in 2009. It was one of the first telecommunication firms to achieve Select Partner status after such a short period of trading.
