Kingston Adopts New Name

UK IT and communications group Kingston Communications (HULL) PLC has changed its name to KCOM Group PLC.

The company, whose brands include Affiniti, Smart421, JAM IP and Eclipse Internet, gained shareholder approval for the name change at its Annual General Meeting earlier this month.

The name change applies only to the parent company, with the group’s market-facing brands continuing to operate under their existing identities.

The Kingston Communications brand will continue to exist, as it will be used for the group’s activities in Hull and East Yorkshire, where the company has its origins. The Kingston Communications name will also remain the brand under which the Group serves regional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and channel partners with communications services.

Commenting on the name change, Malcolm Fallen, KCOM Group PLC CEO, said: “During recent years the group has grown in both size and scope to become a national provider of IT and communications services to a wide range of business and consumer markets.

“The new PLC name more accurately reflects the increased scope and geographic reach of the company’s operations.”
