Lars Nyberg, President and CEO of TeliaSonera, has joined the Board of GSMA, the mobile industry’s trade organisation.

Nyberg will join 24 other CEO’s and senior executives from operators around the world that make up the Board. Constituted in 2003, it provides the GSMA's membership with a strong voice, clear direction and is the strategic and decision making body behind the association.

He will work with the Board and GSMA to champion the development of the mobile world to the benefit of individuals and organisations, throughout the world.

TeliaSonera has a strong pioneering spirit and record from its contribution in the development of GSM, as well as the merit of being the first operator in the world to launch 4G services. It operates in 20 markets, including the world’s most advanced mobile community, the Nordics. TeliaSonera is involved in many of the activities of the GSMA, including technical standardisation work, international roaming agreements and public policy work.

The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide. Spanning 219 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations.
