Earlier this year, Age UK Calderdale Kirklees celebrated 40 years of helping older people in the region to make the most of life. To mark this occasion they launched a new fundraising initiative – the £40 for 40 Years Challenge.

Led by Director Phil Pinder, Morley-based Logical Telecom arranged a unique golfing event in support of this campaign, aiming to get 40 players to play 40 holes, each player tasked with raising a minimum of £40 in sponsorship for the charity.

Phil said “Age UK have been a client of ours for some years so it was a pleasure asking customers, friends and colleagues to help us raise some money for a great cause that we all may need later in life. A massive thank you to all who competed and those that helped organise and run the event.”

Despite poor weather conditions, 27 players arrived at Bradley Hall Golf Club for a 7am start on Sunday 31st May 2015 to support the event and play commenced, with the last finishers getting to the bar at around 5:30pm.

The event raised £2,144.95 (before Gift Aid) – over £500 more than the target amount for the event and around £80 per player – with the cheque presented to Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees on 16th July.

Judith Churley, Marketing & Fundraising Manager at Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees said “We are really grateful to Phil and the team at Logical Telecom for raising an amazing £2,144.95 for us! It is heart warming to know that people are so generous, and lovely to be working with a company that shares the values of our charity.”
