Logitech to Acquire Lifesize

Logitech has announced its intent to acquire videoconferencing vendor LifeSize Communications, for $405million cash. Texas-based, privately-held LifeSize is a rapidly growing player in the videoconferencing and telepresence market, since its launch in 2003. The announcement by Logitech comes only weeks after Cisco announced its bid of Norwegian telepresence firm Tandberg, for $3.1billion.

The move is expected to see Logitech extend its product offering beyond PC-based desktop video peripherals and bring to market LifeSize’s portfolio of high-definition videoconferencing systems.
