Moulton Joins Cisco

Comms Business Magazine has established that former Siemens channel boss Neil Moulton who departed the vendor at the end of October has joined Cisco Systems.

His new role at Cisco will be as Sales Business Development Manager working for Channel supreme John Donovan. In this role Moulton will be expected to recruit voice centric resellers for the Cisco CallManager series. Vicky Darcy, the ex-Panasonic and Westcon account manager will now report to Moulton.

Some observers have already said that this new position will present many challenges for Moulton in that he will need to persuade voice resellers to adopt a new vendor interaction model.

Speaking to Comms Business Magazine’s Maren Bennette, Roy Carter of Truro based Datasharp, one of Siemens largest UK reseller organisations, said, “Neil will have as tough a job with Datasharp as he will have with other voice resellers if he expects to be paid for sales training and demonstration equipment for his product range. Traditional PBX vendors have always provided this training free of charge.”

Cisco is making a habit of plucking some of the more senior corporate head honchos from their more voice centric competitors as earlier this year Clive Sawkins of Avaya also crossed over to the ‘Dark Side’.

Moulton was well liked and respected in the Siemens channel and is said to have left when beaten by Paul Morgan to the new Sales Director position at the vendor though many observers would see his new position as being a step down in the overall pecking order.
