National Rail Enquiries and mxData go live to the mobile

mxData, the mobile applications company, has announced the launch of its LiveTrain mobile service for the Orange network. The service is designed to assist travellers by providing live train arrival and departure information alongside access to comprehensive timetable information. It is the first innovation developed under mxData’s partnership with National Rail Enquiries.

In the first phase of the collaboration, mxData relaunched Orange’s My Trains service, which combines a journey planner, timetable information, and station departure and arrival times. The service is integrated with Orange World and Orange Location API to provide location-based solutions.

mxData is currently developing phase two of LiveTrain, which will offer an enhanced WAP and web service with additional features, such as service disruption information and enhanced journey planning capabilities.

David James, CEO of mxData, said: “Working with National Rail Enquiries has allowed us to develop an application that combines real time information with customised content that delivers real benefits to consumers. The service has great potential for expansion, with huge possibilities around location-based content and live updates. By giving travellers access to this information, we hope to make planning train journeys a smoother and more convenient experience.”

Chris Scoggins, CEO of National Rail Enquiries, said: “The mxData team has a proven track record of developing travel-based mobile applications, making them the ideal partner for our live mobile train service. Having worked with them on plans for future versions of the product, we are confident that they will be able to take it to the next level and provide train travellers with all of the information they need at the touch of a button wherever they are.”

My Trains is currently available on Orange through the Orange World mobile web portal.
