NEC join forces with ex-servicemen charity

The telecoms industry has always had strong links with the armed forces, and in November this year Nottingham-based NEC were approached by local charity Forces in the Community via a distributor. This charity deals with the many problems faced by ex-forces personnel and their families. As a company donation, NEC provided an NEC SL1100 system complete with handsets and free installation.

Rick Harrington (pictured with Nick Thompson) who runs the organisation said, ‘“Our new centre opens in January 2013 supporting Veterans and their families. As a registered charity we deliver employment support, housing and health advice, plus raise the awareness of issues affecting social integration that can affect some ex-forces personnel and their families. Communication is critical and when NEC became aware of our project they asked how they could help.”

He continues, “NEC have very kindly donated a fantastic new telephone system that will make a great difference to the lives of hundreds of people.”

Nick Thompson added, “We identified this as a great cause and the telecoms industry has always had strong links with the armed forces. The system will be used by the ex-forces personnel themselves, helping them find employment and getting their lives back on track.”
