Nimans Hails Launch of ‘Next Generation’ Ericsson System

Ericsson’s largest UK distributor Nimans, has hailed the launch of the vendor’s new Enterprise Multimedia Server as a “quantum leap” forward – describing the innovative system as a feature-rich single box business communication solution which will generate large market demand.

Specifically designed for small to medium enterprises or small office/home office workers, the EMS gives business users a single point of contact for any form of communication - voice, e-mail, fax, SMS or instant message - regardless of where they are and what device, fixed or mobile, they want to use.

Nimans’ Ericsson Business Manager Ian Nuttall says the system has been designed for 50-400 users and utilises ‘native SIP’ technology so that it can seamlessly connect to any other manufacturers’ applications or third-party SIP gateways and phones.

“This is a next generation system, a quantum leap forward in terms of technology and flexibility. There is nothing else comparable on the market. It is a flagship product which is destined to generate a lot of demand. Due to its high scalability the EMS will fit into the portfolio of the majority of resellers. Customers with lots of different platforms will be able to migrate onto one common infrastructure.”

He added: “We look forward to showcasing this exciting new product to dealers at a forthcoming Nimans roadshow so that they can learn more of its many impressive features and benefits.”

Powerful auto-provisioning capabilities for all components mean the EMS is quick to install and easy to manage. The solution is supplied as an all-in-one unit including SIP server, application server and media server. Its user-friendly applications and powerful web-based management features help enterprises gain full control of their communications, while built-in mechanisms to reduce roaming expenses, keep total cost of ownership down resulting in a rapid return on investment.

The EMS comes with a complete suite of embedded applications including: unified messaging (voice, fax and e-mail); SIP soft clients; SIP-based operator workstation; Ericsson's patented Mobile Extension Client; automated call distribution (ACD); SIP-based ACD client; interactive voice response (IVR); automated attendant; web-based conferencing portal; and conversation recording. The system also provides hot standby, security and redundancy without dropping of on-going calls.

Urban Gillström, head of Ericsson's enterprise business, says: "With this solution our customers can make the leap from traditional directory-centric communication to the converged, user-centric world of tomorrow. Its open architecture, scalability and manageability mean companies can be sure that their investment in unified communications infrastructure will be protected, and will add value, for years to come."
