Holding a capacity of around 275 racks, DC2 will offer the same high level of features as the first hugely popular Node4 Data Centre1. All of the facilities including; the Stultz DX Cybercool Air Conditioning units, the 800k VA Generators and the 300kVA AEC UPS systems, in the new Data Centre are N + 1, providing a back up should anything fail for an unknown reason. A FM200 Gas Suppression system has also been installed which completes the fire protection system.
DC2 has had raised flooring fitted which, combined with the air conditioning units, ceiling ducts and alternating ‘hot and cold corridors’, ensures an excellent flow of cool air around the whole of the data centre.
The first batch of racks was delivered to Node4 last week ready for customers to move into in November. The 46U racks are taller than the average rack to allow more equipment into the same floor space. For Node4’s core network, special dual racks will be used with integrated cable management down the middle of the pair. All of the racks will have individual combination locks on them for extra security.
Security is a growing issue in data centres and so Node4 have ensured that the right procedures are put into place. Electric gates and door access only with photo ID and key fob are some of the measures that will be in place for the opening. By the end of the year customers will have access to the data centre and the Node4 technical support team 24 hours a day.
