Oxford Brookes University turns to Matrix42

Cloud
Matrix42 has announced that Oxford Brookes University has turned to Matrix42’s cloud based Workplace Management suite, comprising solutions for Mobile Device Management, Physical Device Management and Software License Compliance. Oxford Brookes will benefit from rapid deployment timescales as all Matrix42 solutions can be hosted in the cloud thus eliminating reliance on in-house data centre resources.

Oxford Brookes University is committed to a continuous program of investment to develop and enhance the quality and efficiency of the University's infrastructure and services. It needed a more robust and flexible approach to mobile device management, whilst meeting full software license compliance and audit requirements. After careful research into the available options, it chose the cloud hosted Workplace Management suite from Matrix42.

Gareth Brown, Head of customer services at Oxford Brookes Information Solutions said, “We knew from Gartner research that Matrix42 was positioned in the Visionary quadrant and right from the start they demonstrated a willingness to invest time in fully understanding our requirements and then demonstrating how their innovative suite of workplace management solutions could meet our needs. An added benefit is that the Matrix42 solutions represented an extremely cost effective option for the University. Each of the workplace management solutions can be hosted in the cloud which will ensure there is no impact on our data centre resources whilst also enabling us to plan for a rapid deployment and consequent return on our investment.”

Oxford Brookes and Matrix42 are already working together on an implementation schedule that will see Mobile Device Management and Software License Compliance progressively rolled out. Physical Workplace Management will enable the University to manage a mixed estate of Apple Macs, with support for PCs available if required.

Gareth added, “It was evident that the Matrix42 solutions are designed to solve real client problems, with 1m software fingerprints and 330,000 SKUs it will enable us to automate License Compliance whilst meeting audit requirements. Each of the workplace management solutions are future proofed and we can connect them to any existing or future third party systems that we use. For example, integrating Mobile Device Management with ServiceNow will allow our ServiceDesk team to automate repetitive tasks such as device enrollment which will free up our IT resources to spend time on more value added activity. We will also ensure that we are fully compliant with our IT asset management obligations with the Software License Compliance module.”

Stuart Power, Sales Manager UK at Matrix42 commented, “Educational institutions need to maintain an efficient IT infrastructure and keep pace with changing technology trends. Matrix42 has again demonstrated that the power and flexibility of our workplace management solutions can make a significant contribution to organisations such as Oxford Brookes that need to operate a complex IT environment and prove compliance to auditors whilst providing outstanding levels of service to end users.”
