Communications and data specialist Pennine is to create a specialist South West hub following the acquisition of Bristol-based Co-Channel Electronics.

Founded in 1978 Co-Channel specialises in two-way radio and wireless communications and serves a broad range of clients across the West Country. It’s staff and operations will be integrated within Pennine’s national PennineRadio division, with the Bristol premises retained as a regional technical and sales support hub.

All Co-Channel staff are being retained by Pennine, with the exception of former joint owner Teresa Griffiths who is retiring. Founder and managing director John Crawford is being retained on a consultancy basis.

“Co-Channel is an excellent fit for our business. That’s due both to the respect the business and its staff command for technical excellence and the growth which PennineRadio is already enjoying in the South West,” commented Pennine’s managing director, Andrew Roberts.

“This acquisition will both facilitate further growth and provide us with additional resource with which to service our existing client base in the region.”

Part of the Nycomm Group of Companies, Pennine already provides two-way radio installation, supply and maintained contract services to an array of private and public sector organisations across the country including the Hinkley Point C construction site in Somerset.

The Bury-headquartered company was itself founded as a two-way radio servicing specialist in 1976. It has since extended its expertise to embrace unified communications, mobile telephony, wired and wireless networking, cloud and IT services.
